FoldFocus is a focus timer. It has no accounts and no ads, and your city and focus history stay on your iPhone. This page explains the little that does leave your device, who receives it and why.
FoldFocus is made by ARVELABS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the data described here. Questions go to info@ogydigital.com.
The short version
- No account, no sign-up, no name, email or phone number.
- Your sessions, city, goal and settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- We collect anonymous usage events to improve the app. They aren't linked to you.
- Apple handles payments; RevenueCat confirms your subscription.
- No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, nothing sold.
Stored only on your iPhone
Your focus sessions (start and end times, length, whether they finished), your city, your daily goal, streak and settings are saved on your device. We never receive them. They are removed when you choose Settings → Delete all data in the app, or delete the app.
To start and stop sessions, FoldFocus reads the hinge position on iPhone Duo and the motion sensors on other iPhones (to notice when the phone is face down or picked up). These readings are used in the moment, on the device, and are never recorded or sent anywhere.
Reminders (for example "your shop is built", or the trial reminder) are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. There is no push server.
Anonymous usage events
To learn which parts of the app help people focus, the app sends simple events to PostHog, our analytics provider. For example: an onboarding step was viewed, a session started, finished or was broken, the paywall was shown, a purchase started or completed.
Each event can include: the session length you chose, how the session was started (closing, face down or by hand), whether the device has a hinge, the app version, the screen name, basic device information such as model, iOS version and language, and a random identifier created by the app. The identifier isn't connected to your name, Apple ID or any other app, and deleting the app resets it.
As with any connection to a server, PostHog receives your device's IP address, which it can use to estimate a country or city. We don't use it to identify you.
We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving FoldFocus. We keep these events for up to 24 months.
Subscriptions and payments
Purchases are made through the App Store and handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
We use RevenueCat to confirm whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the App Store transaction details for your purchase and an anonymous app user ID, and returns your subscription status. We use this to provide the service you paid for.
Who receives data
| Provider | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog, Inc. | Anonymous usage events | United States |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Subscription status | United States |
| Apple | App Store purchases and app distribution | Apple's own terms |
Where data is processed outside the UK, it is protected by the providers' data processing agreements and recognised transfer safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Children
FoldFocus is a general productivity app and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data, object to its use, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Because we don't know who you are, we usually can't match usage events to you. Email us and we'll help as far as we can; deleting the app also resets its random identifier.
This website
foldfocus.app uses DataFast to count visits: which pages are viewed, the site that sent you, your approximate country and your device and browser type. DataFast sets a cookie to recognise returning visitors. We use this only to understand how people find FoldFocus, never for advertising. The app itself doesn't use DataFast.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
